Wild camping experience in the Cairngorms National Park

Embark on an extraordinary journey through the untamed beauty of the Cairngorms National Park with the Mountain Trod. Our 4-day wild camping trek, from Blair Atholl to Aviemore promises adventure, where every step unveils breathtaking landscapes and wilderness wonders.

Day 1: Blair Atholl to Glen Tilt. Begin your expedition by immersing yourself in the tranquil woodlands and meandering rivers of Blair Atholl. Our route winds through ancient forests, up onto the majestic Beinn A’ Ghlo Munros, and down to the banks of the River Tilt. Here, amidst the serene beauty of Glen Tilt, we’ll pitch our tents and embrace the wilderness around us.

Cairngorms

Day 2: Glen Tilt to Lairig Ghru. As the day dawns, continue your trek deeper into the heart of the Cairngorms. Traverse rugged moorlands, from An Sgarsoch to the Geldie Burn as we make our way towards the legendary Lairig Ghru pass. Keep your senses sharp for glimpses of soaring eagles and elusive red deer. As evening descends, camp amidst the dramatic landscapes of Lairig Ghru, surrounded by towering peaks and sweeping vistas.

Day 3: Lairig Ghru to Loch Etchachan. Today, ascend through breathtaking glens and rocky ridges, summiting Derry Cairngorm and soaking in panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. As evening approaches, descend to our campsite nestled in the shadow of the mountains, alongside the waters of Loch Etchachan.

Day 4: Loch Etchachan to Aviemore. On our final day, ascend to the summit of Ben Macdui, Scotland’s second-highest mountain, before tracing our path towards Aviemore. Wind your way through ancient Caledonian forests and rolling hills, savoring every moment of the journey. As we reach Aviemore, reflect on the memories made, the challenges overcome, and the beauty of the Cairngorms National Park.

Group size: Limited to a maximum of 6 participants for an intimate and personalized experience.

Fitness required: The ability to walk a long day up to 17-20Km a day
