Learn how to navigate using only the shape of the ground by relating the contour lines on the map to the rise and fall of the landscape. This will enable you to tell the difference between uphill and downhill, a valley and a ridge, really focusing your navigation skills so you no longer rely on linear features such as streams, walls and paths.
This course is suitable for people who already have some navigation skills and wish to develop these further. It is ideal for experienced hillwalkers who want to relate map contours with landform, a refresher for NNAS Bronze and Silver award holders, or those working towards their NNAS Gold award or ML assessment, where the course will be run in more open country.
